About the Partnership

The Aurora Asian/Pacific Community Partnership was started in the late ’80s by then city of Aurora Mayor Paul Tauer.  In the 1980s, the Asian/Pacific population exploded, notably along Colfax Avenue in Original Aurora.  Mayor Tauer was interested in learning more about the Asian small businesses, especially Korean, Thai and Vietnamese, that were becoming more visible in the area at that time.  He worked with the city to establish the Aurora Asian/Pacific Community Partnership (the Partnership), a nonprofit organization, under Spirit of Aurora, collaborating with local residents and businesses to “create and maintain a high quality of life for Asian Pacific Americans.”   The Partnership’s success with bringing together diverse cultures to address civic and community engagement needs has become a role model for other cities in the area.  More…
